CPRF Director General Kuldiep Singh reached Chhattisgarh on Sunday morning to take stock of the situation, according to India Today TV.
Officials have said 24 jaws have been admitted to Bijapur Hospital. While at least seven jaws were referred to a Raipur hospital.
Union Interior Minister Amit Shah went to Twitter to offer his condolences to the families of the fallen soldiers. On Saturday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi wished the injured jaws a speedy recovery and also expressed his condolences to the families of the soldiers who were killed in the encounter. “My thoughts go with the families of the martyrs who fought against Maoists in Chhattisgarh,” the prime minister said in a tweet.
The bodies of two Commando Battalions for Resolute Action (CoBRA) jaws were recovered on Saturday. One of the jaws that died in the encounter belonged to the CoBRA unit while the other was part of the Central Reserve Police Force’s (CRPF) Bastariya Battalion.
The bodies of three other pine trees have yet to be recovered. The three jaws were used by the District Reserve Guard (DRG).
Police Inspector General (Bastar) P Sunderraj has stated that at least nine Naxals lost their lives during the three-hour encounter with the Indian Armed Forces. One of the Naxals killed in the encounter was a Maoist woman. While the security forces themselves have estimated that over 15 Maoists were killed in the encounter.
The fallen CPRF jawans were honored on Sunday morning in the armed forces’ Jagdalpur camp.
