The Kejriwal Dispensation on Tuesday merged 13 government institutes to create Delhi Skills and Entrepreneurship University to promote higher education and technical training.
“The Delhi government is committed to expanding skills opportunities for our youth. These mergers will make the skills ecosystem more efficient and improve the employability and skill prospects of our youth,” said Deputy Prime Minister Manish Sisodia.
The institutes that will be merged will include 10 state technology institutes, the Delhi Institute of Tool Engineering (Wazirpur and Okhla campuses) and the Govind Ballabh Pant Engineering College.
The move will help streamline skills training in the city, according to a statement from the Delhi government.
The Cabinet also approved the merger of the Delhi University College of Arts and the Delhi Institute of Heritage Research and Management. You will now be part of the Dr. BR Ambedkar University, the statement said.
The Cabinet also announced the establishment of the government’s new world-class center of excellence in Pushp Vihar to provide qualification opportunities for students and improve their employment prospects in new and emerging sectors.
“Cabinet sanctioned £9.9 crore for the new center and it is part of the government’s vision to set up 25 world-class centers of excellence across Delhi, “the statement said.
