The government of Andhra Pradesh will provide a Covid-19 vaccine to everyone in the 18 to 45 age group.
This was decided by Prime Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy at a review meeting in Amaravati on Friday.
Since this would require vaccination of more than 2.04 million people, additional vaccines should be procured from vaccine manufacturers, the prime minister instructed officials.
Reddy also spoke to Krishna Ella, executive director of Bharat Biotech, and B Parthasarathi Reddy, MD, straight, over a phone call to seek additional vaccine supplies for the state. Efforts are also being made to source all medicines needed to treat patients with Covid.
In their briefing to the chief minister, officials said the state was facing a lack of oxygen. While about 120 vehicles were required, only 64 oxygen transport vehicles were allocated to the state. The availability of oxygen is also only 50 percent of current demand.
To curb the spread of the pandemic, the government has imposed a curfew between 10 a.m. and 5 p.m.
The exams for 10th, intermediate, graduate and engineering students will be conducted according to a press release according to the schedule with all measures against coverage.
