Baroda Asset Administration appoints Suresh Soni as CEO

Baroda Asset Management India Ltd announced on Thursday that Suresh Soni has been named Chief Executive Officer.

Soni, who was appointed effective August 3, 2021, is a seasoned asset manager with over 25 years of experience, Baroda Asset Management said in a statement.

His experience spans the areas of investment and business management. He has a wide range of experience working with start-ups and global giants, and with both private and institutional clients.

In his previous functions, Soni worked for Deutsche Asset Management for around 15 years, most recently as Chief Executive Officer at Edelweiss Alternative Asset Advisors.

” We are excited to bring Suresh on board to strengthen our wealth management business. His extensive investment and business management experience will complement our existing capabilities, ” said Sanjiv Chadha, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Bank of Baroda.

“We are very excited about the long-term potential of the wealth management business and will continue to invest in expanding our presence,” he added.

Soni said the low penetration of mutual funds amid declining returns in traditional investment avenues creates strong growth potential for the wealth management business.

Baroda Asset Management India, the investment manager of the Baroda Mutual Fund, is a wholly owned subsidiary of the Bank of Baroda. It manages assets of Rs 12,165 core (as of July 2021).
