Somebody alerts Lady Whistledown. Regé-Jean Page, who plays Simon Basset, Duke of Hastings, on Netflix’s hit show “Bridgerton” hosted “Saturday Night Live” this weekend, and some of the female cast members couldn’t contain their excitement.

Aidy Bryant (after dropping her Ted Cruz Cancun Cornrows) playfully interrupted the actor’s monologue to announce that she would be his “SNL” association, “a personal companion for all of your personal needs”. “All you need – alcohol, a massage,” she offered, nervously assuming a British accent.

But Bryant wasn’t the only “SNL” player trying to pull the old connecting trick. Enter Ego Nwodim and offer your services with a curtsy to Page.

“You can both relax,” Page insisted. “I’m nothing like my character, the Duke.”

The actor stared at the camera as seductive music began to play. “I’m actually quite shy. … I find it difficult to talk about myself because most of the time I just want to listen.” Page took a sip of his sniffer, which made the women hot and nervous.

“OK, that’s dangerous,” joked Nwodim.

“Yeah, yeah, we’re just big fans of the Duke and ‘Bridgerton’ and seeing your bum,” said Bryant.

After Page teased the women with “Unchained Melody,” Chloe Fineman emerged as the Duke’s love interest, Daphne Bridgerton.

Regé-Jean Page and Phoebe Dynevor on Netflix

Later on the show, “SNL” attended the Netflix series with Fineman as Phoebe Dynevor, the actress who plays Daphne. She and Page, who were playing themselves, had to meet with intimacy coordinators before filming a love scene. While her usual coordinator was not available, Richie (Mikey Day) and his nephew Randy (Pete Davidson) were there to help. Apparently they “took a zoom and got certified for the whole sex scene”.

They were as bad as it sounds, with protective clothing they suspected was clean.

It’s a shame that they also formed the body make-up crew.
