The central government has sent a team from the National Center for Disease Control (NCDC) to Kerala, which will arrive on Sunday, to provide technical assistance to the state where a case of Nipah was found in Kozhikode district, the Ministry of Health said . A suspected case of Nipah, a 12-year-old boy, was reported on Friday, who was hospitalized and passed away on Sunday morning.

The center has recommended looking for active cases in the family, families, village and areas with similar topography, especially Malappuram, to keep track of active contact for all contacts over the past 12 days. It also advised strict quarantine of contacts and isolation of suspects, and the collection and transport of samples for laboratory testing.
It is also worth remembering that there was a nipah outbreak in the Kozhikode and Malappuram districts of Kerala in 2018.
