Entrepreneurship World Cup 2019 Trophy
American University of Armenia’s Entrepreneurship and Product Innovation Center is the official national organizer of the Entrepreneurship World Cup in Armenia. The program gives entrepreneurs across the country the opportunity to compete globally for a share of $ 1 million in cash prizes, plus additional investment and an additional $ 750,000 in benefits in kind. The EWC is now accepting applications for 2021 in order to exceed the previous mark of 175,000 participants from more than 200 countries in the first year.
“EPIC is proud to take responsibility for hosting this event in Armenia through the Open Center of Excellence for Innovation Promotion. We hope to use the EWC as a platform not only to support and promote the Armenian entrepreneurs, but also as a means of cooperation and for the purpose of cooperation with our local companies and industrial partners. To this end, we are in dialogue with our local startup ecosystem partners, Armenian universities, the government and the local business community to share responsibility for the success of this event. As a national co-organization partner, we will plan, promote and carry out the national competition for the benefit of all, ”said Dr. Michael Kouchakdjian, Director of the Open Center of Excellence for Innovation Promotion and EPIC.
The EWC is more than just a global pitch competition with the aim of securing life-changing prizes. It supports entrepreneurs from all phases – idea phase, early phase, growth phase or beyond – by providing them with tools and resources to expand their businesses.
EWC Accelerates is a virtual training and mentoring program that helps entrepreneurs improve their skills, increase their chances of winning their national competitions, and advance to the global finals.
The EWC online platform offers all participants who complete the application access to discounts from partners such as Google Cloud, Hubspot, Stripe and others valued at over 25,000 US dollars.
“We are striving to make EWC Armenia a truly pan-national event that spans the full spectrum of the Armenian entrepreneurship ecosystem, from sole proprietorships to government and from the IT industry to the fine arts. Therefore, we do not consider any limitation on the type or type of entrepreneurial ideas and endeavors that could compete for the Entrepreneurship National Cup. As a growing entrepreneurial nation, we believe that Armenia needs to have at least one deserving representative at the EWC World Finals in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, ”notes Nejdeh Hovanessian, Deputy Director of the Open Center for Innovation Promotion and Entrepreneur-in-Residence at EPIC.
The national final will take place in Yerevan until July 2021. In November 2021, the 100 winning startups from around the world will be flown to Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, to take part in the EWC acceleration program for an intensive startup bootcamp and to take part in the EWC world finals.
