Flawed-way tunnel crash hurts 1 | Information, Sports activities, Jobs


PITTSBURGH – A wrong-way driver collided head-on with another car in a tunnel in western Pennsylvania and seriously injured the other driver, the police said.

Pittsburgh State Police said the vehicle pulled into Route 1376 just before 3 a.m. on Sunday, which was traveling west in the eastbound lanes.

The car pulled into the Fort Pitt tunnel under Mount Washington, was still going in the wrong direction and collided head-on with another car, police said. The 36-year-old driver of the other car was taken to a local hospital and listed in critical condition with multiple injuries. The other 21-year-old driver was uninjured, the police said.
