According to local police, four people, including a child, were killed in a shooting in an office building in Orange, California on Wednesday evening. Two other people were injured in the incident, including the suspect.
Officers responded to reports of gunfire on the 200 block on West Lincoln Avenue in the city around 5:30 p.m., the Orange Police Department said. Police arrived as shots were fired and a “rifle officer” followed.
On the spot, officials found several victims, Lt. Jen Amat of the Orange Police Department during a press conference. A female victim was taken to a local hospital in critical condition.
The shooting suspect was arrested and also taken to the local hospital in critical condition, Amat said.
Amat gave few more details about the victims, the shooter, or the motive.
California Governor Gavin Newsom has offered condolences following early reports on the shooting. He said, “Our hearts go out to the families who are affected by this terrible tragedy tonight.”
Orange is a city south of Los Angeles with around 140,000 residents.
The Wednesday night shooting marks the third multi-victim shootout in almost as many weeks.
