Initiative to spice up rural entrepreneurship launched in Chamarajanagar

An initiative has been launched in Chamarajanagar to promote rural entrepreneurship through digital and technological interventions to grow local businesses and create jobs. The initiative is supported by eSaumdaay, a Bengaluru-based local trading platform, the JSS RISDC (Rural Incubation and Skill Development Center) and other partners to economically empower local communities.

Producer network

A press release states that a producer network is to be set up in Chamarajanagar to create more employment opportunities and to help build independent communities and to empower young people and women in the district. Efforts in Chamarajanagar are to create a production center that will initially focus on agricultural and food products, health and wellness, textiles, home decor, handicrafts.

eSamudaay plans to build a network of ecosystem actors who can offer full support to local entrepreneurs from incubation to skill development to digitizing and scaling their businesses. The technological infrastructure, digital skills development and access to a native user interface for these rural businesses will be provided by other partners who are part of the initiative, the press release said. The incubation of emerging businesses in Chamarajanagar will be anchored by JSS RISDC, while eSamudaay will be the digital platform that enables local trade and connects local producers with the market outside of Chamarajanagar.

Commenting on the initiative, Anup Pai, founder and CEO of eSamudaay, said, “Atmarnibhar Bharat and creating a trillion dollar digital economy in India by 2024 can only be achieved if our shared focus is strengthening the rural economy and overall growth . ”

He said the JSS RISDC has more than 20 years of experience in rural areas and is using its expertise and presence in technology and rural development issues to bridge the digital divide and promote entrepreneurship development in rural areas. JSS RISDC facilities and support will be fundamental initiatives to encourage entrepreneurs, the self-employed, and individuals or groups to start their activities in order to improve the value chain in the ecosystem to improve local economic activities, he added.
