JAMMU: The Jammu and Kashmir Trade Promotion Organization (JKTPO), in collaboration with the Jammu and Kashmir Entrepreneurship Development Institute (JKEDI), organized a webinar to motivate and train young entrepreneurs and boost entrepreneurship and the start-up ecosystem in Jammu and Kashmir promote.

JKEDI Director, Ghulam Mohammad Dar, said that this webinar would help to use and promote the start-up culture in the Union’s territory. In the past decade, we’ve set up 14,000 units across the length and breadth of the region and achieved an unprecedented 80 percent success rate in implementing the system, he added.

“We thank the J&K and JKTPO governments for partnering with us to promote entrepreneurship in the area. We plan to work together and work together on new ideas, innovations and inventions, ”he added.

The Director of Industry and Commerce, Jammu, and the General Manager, JKTPO Anoo Malhotra, acknowledged JKEDI’s support and said, “There is great potential for start-up initiatives in Jammu and Kashmir. The Indian government offers various incentives to promote the start-up ecosystem in the region. We are conducting activities to create great business opportunities through extensive outreach programs, ”she said.

To this end, the Government of India has announced the Rs 945 billion start-up India Seed Fund Scheme (SISFS), which will be operational from April 1, 2021 to 2025, to serve the start-up ecosystem across the country to promote and strengthen. With that in mind, the Jammu & Kashmir government is working to encourage startups and innovation, which will create jobs and boost the economy.

According to the Jammu and Kashmir Entrepreneurship Development Institute (JKEDI), 69 start-ups have been registered in the Union territory. As of now, J & K’s government is focusing on sectors such as food processing, agriculture, renewable energies, handicrafts, hand weaving, among others to promote start-ups. In order to activate the start-up ecosystem and promote awareness, reach and scouting of start-ups, www.startupjk.com has also gone live.

Aakarshan Sethi, startup mentor, Aman Sharma, co-founder and CTO Twinbit, Irtif Lone, Incharge Center for Innovation Incubation and Business Modeling, JKEDI and Sagar Sengar from startup India attended the webinar. 50 UT entrepreneurs and start-up owners took part in the event.
