Henderson was sent off in the 29th minute against Everton

Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson was ruled out until April for his groin injury against Everton.

The 30-year-old has had an operation and will begin rehabilitation.

The English midfielder was sent off in the first half in a 2-0 win on Saturday Merseyside Derby defeat to add to the defensive problems of the club.

Henderson joins Virgil van Dijk, Joel Matip, Joe Gomez and Fabinho on Liverpool’s injury list.

The midfielder has been used in defense with Jürgen Klopp without his three main defenders in recent weeks.

He will now miss at least five games, including a home game in the Premier League with Chelsea and the second leg of the last 16 Champions League games against RB Leipzig.

“When he returns, no specific timetable will be set,” said a Statement on the club’s websiteexternal link.

“The 30-year-old is initially excluded until after the break in March.”

The international break is planned for March 24th to 31st.
