Cocoa is the first company in the industry to achieve ISO 14001, an international standard for environmental management systems. With this, the company will further strengthen its environmentally friendly management.
Kakao held an ISO 14001 certification ceremony at its Pangyo office in Seongnam-si, Gyeonggi-do, South Korea on April 9, attended by three Korea Management Registrar (KMR) officials, including CEO Hwang Eun-ju . together with four own members. According to KMR, Kakao is the first company among South Korean web portals and information-based internet services to receive ISO 14001 certification.
ISO 14001 was established by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) to assess and certify whether companies view environmental management as an important standard for their management and to systematically manage and improve their environmental management activities.
Cocoa regards environmentally friendly management as an important standard for its work system and business operations. The company has thus received its ISO 14001 certification in recognition of its specific goals for improving the environment in accordance with the relevant laws and guidelines and at the same time systematically implemented action plans.
Kakao is currently concretizing various goals through its internal environmental task force in order to establish a sustainable environmental management system. After achieving ISO 14001, the company is preparing to meet various other environmental-related international standards, so it is building a green data center, slated for completion in 2023, to help transition a low-carbon economy through green business activities.
