Manchester United: Jesse Lingard rejects new deal

Lingard’s form helped West Ham finish 6th in the Premier League last season

England striker Jesse Lingard has turned down a contract offer from Manchester United.

It is understood that Lingard has concerns about how many times he is likely to play this season, especially since the arrival of Cristiano Ronaldo.

Lingard, who scored two goals in Sunday’s World Cup win against Andorra, impressed last season on loan at West Ham.

The 28-year-old’s current contract expires at the end of the season.

Lingard had offers to move that summer, with West Ham particularly keen to see him return.

He has only four minutes of Premier League action under his belt so far this season and came off the bench in the Southampton draw last month.

However, it is becoming clearer how heavily he is likely to be used by coach Ole Gunnar Solskjaer over the next three weeks.
