There are linguistic beach days and Miranda Kerr – founder and CEO of KORA Organics, supermodel and mother of three – is ready. “There is a vitality in the air that is specific to summer, and summer nights are very special – something about alfresco dining under a warm sky,” says the LA resident dreamily. “My family and I have picnics and I love to feel the sun on my legs. I try to be outside as much as possible, and I do this thing where I reach out my hands, open my palms, and visualize the energy of sunlight going through every part of my body. ”
To compensate for her joyous sunbathing, Kerr is diligent on sunscreen and also doubles up on skin care. “I definitely do more exfoliating and moisturizing and some self-tanning to get a bit of a head start,” she says. “I’m just before thirty-eight and I like the way my skin looks now more than ever before.” Kerr’s prep routine for summer includes a gloriously silky turmeric face cream that is heavenly after a day at the beach and a gentle milky cleanser we couldn’t be more obsessed with, along with dry brushing, a nighttime super serum, white birch sticks, and date with her husband (if possible under the warm sky).
Day
Most days, and especially in summer, when my skin is getting dry from sun exposure and swimming, I dry the brush before my morning shower. It exfoliates and makes my skin so smooth – I’m obsessed. It may sound fun, but I look forward to washing my face with our new mushroom cleanser. You shake it to mix and activate the ingredients: moisturizing aloe leaf juice, silver ear mushroom – which acts like hyaluronic acid – apple seed and sunflower oil, and much more. I take three to five pumps and massage them into my skin. It gently removes oil and is great for pulling off makeup at night. The subtle scent of rose geranium and basil is so therapeutic; I feel centered.

Our products are all filtered through rose quartz crystals, and the cleaner is also loaded with citrine. We print a different word on the back box for each type of product, and all detergents say “forgiveness”. A friend told me that when you brush your teeth in the mirror you should say out loud, “I forgive myself and I forgive anyone who has hurt me, intentionally or unintentionally.” I wanted to make a product to stimulate this action of peace with oneself. Some mornings I use our turmeric face scrub after cleansing. It consists of sparkling peppermint oil as well as papaya enzymes and fine rosehip granules, so that you get both a chemical and a physical peel. I also do it smooth as a body scrub. For an intensive peeling, I use the Goop peeling pad overnight once a week. It’s so good and so brightening.

From the shower, I apply vitamin C serum and then my new turmeric moisturizer. The texture is creamy and the straightening feels almost like a spa treatment. Turmeric, noni fruit, and licorice are encapsulated in these tiny liposomes that open when they hit your skin – this is an incredible way to keep the ingredients highly active. The moisturizer is rich (but not too rich for summer and not too rich for blemish-prone skin). My cousin has oily skin and she loves the way it melts right away and makes it glow. I’m pretty much into protecting my skin, so I put on mineral sunscreen every day. When you run around with kids it’s just one less thing to think about. I like to start the season a little golden and the best trick is to layer the noni body oil over the self tanner. The oil is a dream for hydration, and I smoothed it over the tanner which leaves that natural sheen and smells like lavender instead of chemicals. My routine for the night is pretty much the same as during the day, except that I sometimes take a bath – I love the goop martini bath and throw some crystals in the tub with it – and after washing my face, I wear our scrub- Serum on.
