NEW YORK–(BUSINESS WIRE) – Morgan Stanley Wealth Management today announced a new initiative for its ongoing commitment to historically black colleges and universities (HBCUs). By agreeing to sponsor Barron’s in Education program, all students at 14 HBCUs will have access to Barron’s digital subscriptions, including Barron’s Magazine, as well as a variety of experimental learning opportunities. Morgan Stanley will provide valuable information, access and tools to the various groups of students in the schools.
This sponsorship is the latest initiative in Morgan Stanley’s continued and growing alliance with HBCUs. The deployment of the Barron’s in Education program will be another tool to prepare students for the next phase of their careers by giving them access to the same reporting, analysis, and investment ideas that top executives use and from the top Hear the heads of Wall Street. Last year Morgan Stanley announced its HBCU Scholarship Program – an integrated initiative to strategically engage and support 60 students with scholarships from Howard University, Morehouse College and Spelman College.
“We need to invest in future generations because we know that today’s students are tomorrow’s leaders and entrepreneurs,” said Andy Saperstein, director of Morgan Stanley Wealth Management. “We want to prepare students to think like leaders, and having access to Barron’s subscriptions and other key learning components will be beneficial along the way. This is another real-world tool that we are proud to add to our existing HBCU programs. ”
“Part of learning about the financial world is keeping up with the industry news and trends. Barron’s is a necessary resource used by top bankers, investors, and leading finance and banking companies. Getting this timely, first-hand information along with the traditional curriculum will enhance the learning experience for these HBCU students, ”said Kara Underwood, director of Morgan Stanley Wealth Management Diversity and Inclusion.
Barron’s, a leading provider of online and print financial news, celebrates its 100th anniversary by providing in-depth commentary and analysis of the market as well as breaking financial news and investing insights. In addition to providing these 14 institutions with the Barron subscription free of charge, Morgan Stanley will increase their participation through a unique experiential learning program consisting of:
