AgForce members wishing to improve their skills can now sign up for a special rural development course “for women by women”.

The Rural Jobs and Skills Alliance (RJSA) has partnered with the University of Queensland to launch two editions of the Farm Business Management Skill Set program in April and June.

The course is an accredited, nationally recognized qualification and aims to celebrate and promote women’s participation in agriculture by providing them with the skills and knowledge to manage farms and business risk.

The topics are funded by the Queensland Government Department of Employment, Small Business and Education and include the following topics:

  • apply advanced risk management strategies
  • Implement effective marketing strategies to increase sales and support growth
  • Review of the operation and performance of farms in accordance with relevant legislation and codes of conduct.

The program is offered in two 2-day blocks with some online learning in between.
