The National Institute for Governance and Sustainable Development (NIGSD) and the University of Cairo have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on the development of Egyptian entrepreneurship.
In the MoU, the NIGSD, the education arm of the Ministry of Planning and Economic Development, and the Business Incubator of the Faculty of Economics and Political Sciences at Cairo University will work together to support and develop human capacity building and entrepreneurship.
Minister of Planning and Economic Development, Hala El-Said, who is also Chair of the Board of Trustees of the NIGSD, stressed that investing in the human element is one of the top priorities of the Egyptian government. She noted that this is because it is the foundation for construction and development across the country.
El-Said said that human resource development has become a fundamental pillar of comprehensive future development.
This is particularly due to the fact that the human element has been shown to be the most important and effective element in any development plan, so training and qualification are the top priority.
The minister also said that promoting entrepreneurship is one of the main gateways the Egyptian state relies on to stimulate creativity and innovation. It also contributes to economic development and increases and creates employment opportunities in ways that encourage youth empowerment and promote their creative skills.
She added that the Memorandum of Understanding stems from a full awareness of the importance of cooperation between institutions designed to support the process of human and sustainable development.
El-Said highlighted the importance of the role that the NIGSD plays in educating, qualifying and improving the knowledge and skills of young people in all fields. It is intended to enable them to manage government resources efficiently and effectively and to achieve sustainable development through the Egyptian Vision 2030.
The Minister emphasized the outstanding position of the Cairo University Business Incubator in supporting development initiatives aimed at achieving sustainable human development. It does this by supporting the ideas of young entrepreneurs.
For her part, Sherifa Sherif, Executive Director of NIGSD, said the areas of collaboration identified in the MoU represent joint support for the process of sustainable human development and entrepreneurship.
The joint support process takes place through the design and implementation of training programs in areas of mutual interest between the two parties. These include entrepreneurship, digital transformation, project management, sustainable development and governance.
