Nottingham-Singapore alliance to speed up entrepreneurship and innovation collaboration

The University of Nottingham has joined the newly formed UK-Singapore Alliance for Entrepreneurship and Innovation (UKSAEI) – the first alliance of its kind to accelerate collaboration between the two countries in the field of entrepreneurship and innovation

The UK-Singapore Universities Alliance was launched today (April 8, 2021), as witnessed by HE Kara Owen, UK High Commissioner in Singapore and HE Lim Thuan Kuan, Singapore High Commissioner in the UK.

UKSAEI brings together the world’s leading universities from Great Britain (Nottingham, Bath, Coventry, Cranfield, Dundee, Edinburgh, Glasgow, King’s College London, Newcastle, Manchester and Strathclyde) and Singapore (Nanyang Technological University Singapore, National University of Singapore, Singapore Institute of) Technology, Singapore Management University and Singapore University of Technology and Design) to share knowledge and facilitate collaboration on commercialization and innovation. The alliance enables knowledge sharing on technology transfer and commercialization, cross-border technology licensing and training for the next generation of entrepreneurs. It will intensify efforts to accelerate the time-to-market and value creation of ideas, and deepen collaboration between innovation ecosystems in the UK and Singapore.

The University of Nottingham has active MBA programs in Singapore and is expanding its relationships with local businesses to improve collaboration. Experts will bring their expertise in entrepreneurship and innovation to the alliance through the Haydn Green Institute and through a valuable contribution to the innovation ecosystem.

I am delighted that the University of Nottingham, as a founding member and with the support of the UK and Singaporean governments, can help bring these great universities together in such an alliance. The University of Nottingham will support the Alliance’s goals to:

  • Actively facilitate and enable collaboration between universities, public research institutes, government and industry actors in the innovation ecosystem in Singapore and the UK to create value together.
  • Facilitate, share knowledge and collaborate in the UK and Singaporean universities’ respective efforts in technology transfer and commercialization through active collaboration with the government and
  • Act as a catalyst for commercialization

Cooperation in knowledge and education is a top priority for the SG-UK partnership for the future, with science and innovation being the focus.
