New cases of Covid-19 in India rose again to over 45,000, at one time authorities approved a fourth vaccine for emergency use in India.
Almost 46,000 people have tested positive for the virus in the past 24 hours, according to the Ministry of Health update dated June 30 at 8 a.m. More than 60,000 patients recovered during the same period and took active infections up to 5.3 lakh.
The daily death rate remained below 1,000 for the third day in a row. 817 patients succumbed to the deadly pathogen, bringing the country’s total death toll to over 3.98 lakh.
Meanwhile, the Drugs Controller General of India has issued an emergency clearance for Moderna’s Covid-19 vaccine, the first vaccine developed internationally, said Dr. VK Paul, member of NITI Aayog (Health).
Moderna is the fourth coronavirus vaccine to receive approval for restricted use in India. The country will also soon sign a deal with Pfizer for its vaccine, Paul added, according to the ANI.
