SIOUX FALLS, SD (KELO) – Mayor Paul TenHaken has declared the first Wednesday in March Sioux Falls Entrepreneurship Day.
It’s been a tough year for entrepreneurs across the country and here in KELOLAND.
Fortunately, the Zeal Center for Entrepreneurship is here to support those who want to bring their business ideas to life.
“During the pandemic, the Zeal Center for Entrepreneurship identified a real void in the community for which there was no accelerator program. A mechanism to help these people get a little further, faster and cheaper, ”said Zeal CEO Brienne Maner.
According to Maner, the facility has almost completed the first cohort of the new program, which includes a 10-week crash course in entrepreneurship.
But that’s not all that is celebrated.
“We take a bow when our mayor, who happens to be an entrepreneur, declares the first Wednesday in March in Sioux Falls Sioux Falls Entrepreneurship Day,” said Maner.
The day will include various activities, most of which will be virtual – but will still be beneficial for potential entrepreneurs.
“You can connect with each other. And to connect with resources in the community. It’s so great that the city is shedding light on it on our behalf and we’re just looking forward to raising those voices, ”said Maner.
The day ends with a stop at the local Fernson Brewery while the owners share their own business story to inspire others.
“Your product is everywhere and people will just love what the brewing scene does. So we have a mixer available as well as guided tours through the plant. So it will be a whole day, ”said Maner.
All to remind entrepreneurs that they have support behind them and to help when needed.
