Tata Harper is known to make most of the manufacture of her all-natural skin care products on her Vermont farm, where she lived until recently. When the single mother moved her family south to Connecticut (the farm is as busy making products as ever, and the family still stays there often) she started decorating her new space – with special attention to an intentionally expansive bathing area. “I have a home office in a different part of the house,” she says. “But here the real research continues!”
It’s a private space accessed through Harper’s bedroom, flooded with light through the huge windows, with trees right outside the door. “Natural light is important, as is the connection with nature,” she says. Harper has mapped rooms according to their routines, so that there is a wonderful feeling of lightness everywhere. “Although it serves as my laboratory, this is the place for downtime,” she says. “I really relax here and get my best ideas when I’m in this state.”
It starts in the shower with a hair routine
Like many of us, Harper says her best ideas come when she’s in the shower. Ring bath and meditation area. “When I’m most relaxed, I can solve a lot of problems,” she says.

Best shower brainstorming: super child
One of Harper’s best ideas recently was a sensitive skin line full of active ingredients, aptly called the Superkind. “A lot of what is offered for reactive skin revolves around what is not in it,” she explains. “Superkind is about incredible ingredients that really work – whether your skin is sensitive or not. Of course, we’ve also removed all of the offending ingredients, but we’ve replaced them with products that are strong, don’t irritate the skin, and work synergistically to soothe the skin. “

A dreamlike skin care sink
Much of the skin care routine – existing and potential future Tata Harper skin wonders – is in one double sink. “All the cleaning, peeling and experimenting continues here,” she says. “There’s a big mirror, a couple of hair ties – you can just treat yourself.”
-
“I always exfoliate my skin with the Regenerating Cleanser in the morning,” says Harper. “When you wake up, you have an accumulation of skin cells from the night because during the night your organs – including your skin – are reset and regenerated. Old cells die and new cells are born. I like to remove all dead skin cells. “

Bath and meditation
The center of the room is a large bathtub surrounded by windows and surrounded by a soft meditation area. Once out of the shower, Harper often ends up here next. “I was obsessed with this Italian meditation chair and then put a small table next to it that I use to meditate and also to try out or work with products,” she says. She groups bath oils, body creams and an ultra-moisturizing face mask next to the tub: “I love a pampering bath,” she says.

Pamper your skin during the day too
Harper uses the table by the meditation chair for a lunch routine she started during the pandemic. “I do this right after lunch and it’s like a pick-me-up,” she says. “Instead of having a coffee or something like that, I sit down and apply an essence like our brightening essence or a tonic like the goop essence. Then I apply our Restorative Eye Crème and add a few drops of our Retinoic Face Oil. “

A decidedly glamorous vanity
The makeup area is a bit out of the way, where Harper likes to put on lots of her serums and skin creams, as well as her famous lip and cheek tones and, when she goes out, a little makeup. “I always had a separate area that was different from the sink,” she says. “My mother and grandmother too. I think it’s important to have a place separate from the hand washing and brushing area where you can sit in a nice chair and do your skin care routine. It’s relaxing.”

This mist enriched with roses smells like a meadow full of flowers, feels incredible on the skin and provides intensive moisture. Spraying it on right before a serum or moisturizer is especially good, but we love it anytime, especially after too long a session in front of the computer.

“My favorite serum is the Elixir Vitae. I’m in my forties and it’s made up of seventy-two ingredients to keep the skin as young as possible, ”says Harper. “It’s like my daily topical dose of injections – it’s made with neurotransmitter peptides for a smooth, baby-skin look. It also contains a cocktail of ingredients that strengthen and plump the skin, because our skin becomes thinner as we age. “
