Ghaziabad police sent a notice to the executive director of Twitter India asking him to join an investigation into the attack on a Muslim man, officials said on Friday.

Manish Maheshwari was asked to appear here at the Loni border police station within seven days to include his testimony on the case where an FIR was filed against the social media giant, a police officer said.

Ghaziabad police, along with some journalists and congressional leaders, booked Twitter, The Wire, on Tuesday for distributing a video of an elderly Muslim saying he was beaten and asked to sing “Jai Shri Ram” on June 5th Video was shared to cause community unrest.

They claim that the incident occurred because the defendants were unhappy with the “tabeez” (amulets) sold to them by the man Abdul Shamad Saifi.

FIR names Twitter Inc, Twitter Communications India, the Wire news website, journalists Mohammed Zubair and Rana Ayyub, congress leaders Salman Nizami, Maskoor Usmani, Shama Mohamed and writer Saba Naqvi.
