USD 6.5 Billion Advisor Group Joins UBS Personal Wealth Administration in Los Angeles

THE ANGEL–(BUSINESS WIRE) – UBS Private Wealth Management in Los Angeles today announced that a team of seven, The Legacy Multi-Family Group, has joined the Century City company.

The team, led by Patrick Schaffer and Ryan Bristol, has four decades of experience. They joined UBS after nine years at JP Morgan Private Bank, where they built a successful US $ 6.5 billion business focused on high net worth families, individuals, foundations and private businesses. The team consists of the financial advisors Barry Peterson, Corey Mazza and Dhanesh Bharvani, the Relationship Manager Basel Sbeini and the Senior Wealth Strategy Associate Shauna Kohanchi.

Prior to his career in wealth management, Patrick Schaffer worked for JP Morgan’s investment bank and two hedge funds. He is also a visiting lecturer at Villanova University, where he teaches finance and accounting. He holds a BA from Johns Hopkins University, an MS from Villanova University, and a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA®) from the CFA Institute. In 2020, Patrick was inducted onto several industry recognition lists, including The Financial Times Top 400 Financial Advisors and Barron’s Top 1200 US Financial Advisors, which ranked him 25th in California.

Ryan Bristol worked at Goldman Sachs, Morgan Stanley, and the private banking practice of Bernstein Global Wealth Management before joining JP Morgan Private Bank in 2011 on the Dean’s Advisory Board for Orfalea College of Business at Cal Poly, ACG101 and chairing the investment review committee for the city of a thousand oaks. He received his MBA from UCLA Anderson School of Management and his BS from Cal Poly, SLO.

Barry Peterson joined JP Morgan Private Bank in 2011. Previously, he was a Charitable Business Development Officer at the California Community Foundation in the philanthropy field. Barry remains active in philanthropy and is currently a member of the QueensCare Charitable Board. He has an MBA from UCLA Anderson School of Management and a BA from Whittier College.

Corey Mazza has held private wealth management roles at both JP Morgan and Goldman Sachs. He earned a BA from Harvard University, an MBA from the University of Texas from Austin McCombs School of Management, and an MS in financial planning from California Lutheran University. While at Harvard, Corey was named an All-American on the college soccer team and played professionally in Europe for one season after college. Prior to his career in financial services, he served nearly six years as an infantry officer in the United States Marine Corps.

Dhanesh Bharvani began his career at JP Morgan in Singapore, where he worked on the team at Non-Resident India. He moved to Los Angeles in 2016 to join JP Morgan Private Bank. Originally from Hong Kong, he has worked with clients in different regions. Dhanesh graduated with Honors and received a BBA in Finance from Goizueta Business School at Emory University.
